Physical and Mental Health

“In order to provide good quality care, it is so important that patients are able to talk to you

and not regard you as some deity above them.”

Dr. Alexa Canady

Physical and Mental Health is a journey to wellness not only for members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, but our families and communities. Elk Grove Alumnae Chapter is committed to this initiative by encouraging members to live a healthy and holistic lifestyle. The three-pronged approach includes:

  • A Refocused Lose to Win! To include Physical Activity and Healthy Eating
  •  Physical Health: Chronic Diseases
  •  Mental Health

Elk Grove Alumnae Chapter hosts an Annual Health Conference to address the health issues that plague the African-American community disproportionately.  The Chapter also disseminates monthly updates about health symposiums.  The Chapter also participates in monthly walks. Other activities that the Chapter participates in include:

  • St Jude Give Thanks Walk
  • American Heart Association: Go Red for Women Initiative
  • American Cancer Society: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
  • Walk Now for Autism Speaks: Sacramento
